This is what the Smithsonian easement ensured - the preservation of a colonial manor house surrounded by hundreds of acres of preserved land for future generations.
Not this - Forty years ago this property was a historic manor surrounded by farm and state forest land - but had no easement to preserve it. This allowed a community college to grow around the old manor house. Located in Baltimore County, it is 1.5 miles from Belmont.
